What is Lent?

Lent is a season of fasting taking place from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. It is forty days in remembrance of the forty days Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness.

As a church, we believe Lent is a time we can press into fasting and prayer together as a community and focus on breaking free from oppressive circumstances by putting our hope and concentration on King Jesus.

This season will also lead up to our Resurrection Sunday celebration.

WHAT IS FASTING?

Fasting is a spiritual discipline involving giving up something you have grown to depend upon. In the Bible, they fasted food because it was a finite resource that everyone relied on for sustenance. It is a way of humbling yourself and entering into prayer with the realization it is God that sustains you overall.
